Stereo MCs are an English alternative/electronica/hip-hop/acid jazz group which formed in 1985. In 1990, "Elevate My Mind" was the first British hip hop single to reach the U.S. R&B chart. At the same time they supported Happy Mondays at the U.S. The have done remixes for the likes of U2, PM Dawn, Queen Latifah, Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Monie Love and Electronic. They are still highly sought after producers, with most of their remixes being done under the name Ultimatum. Stereo MCS are one of the few hip hop outfits to play rock music festivals. In 1992 they made their breakthrough with '' Connected'', a UK Albums Chart No.2, which spawned the smashes "Connected", "Step It Up", "Creation" and "Ground Level", and won them BRITISH Awards for Best Group and Best Album! They have also remixes for Madonna ("Frozen"), and the Jungle Brothers ("Jungle Brother") in 1998.Their most recent album, Double Bubble, was released in July, 2008.
Babis Stokas (Μπάμπης Στόκας) is the ex-singer and foundamental member of the legendary Greek band ''ΠΥΞ ΛΑΞ'' (Pyx Lax). His name is fully connected with some of the biggest Greek hits ever, like ''poula me'' as well as some of the biggest live performances all around Greece (even U.K). He has worked on many projects with many Greek musicians such as Giorgos Ntalaras, Panos Katsimixas, Lavredis Maxairitsas and others. In 2001 his first solo album (''Πουλία της νύχτας'') was released. In 2006 he appeared live in Lykavitos (Athens) with his new band that consisted of musicians from Tripes, Pix Lax and Ksilina Spathia (''Σχεδιο Γ''). It was an unforgetable live performance with so many friends and musicians on stage like Stamatis Kraounakis, Ypogeia Revmata, Kitrina Podilata even Pyx Lax! Babis keeps making solo albums until today.
Pavlos Pavlidis (Παύλος Παυλίδης) is the ex-singer of one of the biggest greek rock bands ''Ξύλινα σπαθιά'' (Ksilina spathia). In 1993 their album ''Ksessaloniki'' smash down the Greek rock music industry until that time. Songs like ''Liomeno pagoto'' and ''O vassilias tis skonis'' are until today some of the best greek rock songs ever. His first band however to play with was another famous band, ''Mora sti fotia''. In 1998 ''Ksilina Spathia'' supported Rolling Stones in Athens, a huge moment in the band's history before their members choosed different musical roads. In 2004 his first solo album ''Αφού λοιπόν ξαχάστηκα'' is out and Pavlidis combines his rock attitude with new experimental influences such as jazz and atmospheric ballads elements . Pavlos has worked with many big Greek artists and he is still producing solo and live albums until today.
63High were formed back in 1997. Obviously influenced by the Jamaican reggae scene and British ska movement, as well as the hardcore punkrockDuring the recent 4 years they have appeared live in over 120 occasions, in venues ranging from houses, schools, campingsites, parks and clubs to festivals (mainly leftist, anti-rascist, antifascist) or even extreme sports showcases. Furthermore they have shared the stage with almost every important band of the genre that has visited Greece over the latest decade. To name but a few: Sex Pistols, Ska-P, Los De Abajo, Toasters, Meteors, Jaya The Cat, No Fun At All, Aggrolites, Oi Polloi, Leftover Crack, Wilhelm Scream, Skin of Tears and many many more. They have a growing loyal audience in neighbouring countries and especially Bulgaria where they have performed in 4 festivals and a few club shows so far. Being characterized as one of the most exciting Greek bands to watch live, in their 12-year long course, they have put out 2 semi-official demos, a 7" split EP (vinyl) and the recent first official album, entitled Think Before Unzippin', distributed by Playfalse Records
Fotonovela consists of two of the most active persons of the modern greek electronic music: Nick from the famous Greek band 'Mikro' and George who has worked with the well-known female band 'Marsheaux'. In 2008 they released their first album under the label of 'undo records'.
Clairaudio is a local band from Ikaria island (next to Samos). They were formed in 2005 and their music is influenced by many american and UK alternative bands such as placebo, madrugada, radiohead, archive etc.
'Valkyries' is a young 5-members band from Samos with experimental progressive melodic rock sound. They were formed in 2004. They have already given lots of concerts around the island participating in many music events and festivals. They participated in the Greek schoolwave festival in 2006 (they were chosen out of 180 schoolbands all over Greece). They are influenced by 70's 'n' 80's classic and prog/art rock and younger alternative bands. The future belongs to them...
